Fall In Amish Country!

Going to Amish Country ~ Holmes County, Ohio, is always a favorite this time of year! I get the itch to start crafting again...This trip was no exception. Love to see the stores decorations. Makes it feel so homey! Unfortunately, they won't allow pictures to be taken!
Lunch of course was at the Dutch Valley - With an awesome Pumpkin Dessert - by the way Tyler loved. Taking after his grandma in food taste!

Fall Decorating!

I've been searching for the perfect fall decorations this year, I came across these wreaths from BHG's. Love, love, love them!

Years ago, I went to a local nursery and made a wreath that looked exactly like the one below. D&D Nursery located on Rt. 313 near Claysville, gives classes on making wreaths to look almost exactly like this. Dave Dolan dries his own flowers. Wreaths are awesome!

I'm addicted to Berries, always one of my favorite choices.

The Backwoods Festival held near Thornville, Ohio is one of the nicest fall festivals I've been to.
This year wasn't a disappointment. I only bought a couple items, but I'm sure with more time to spend, my car would have been packed full!
The following pictures are from the Backwoods Festival Web Site.

This is a picture of the vegetable soup in a bread bowel. Of course, I couldn't pass this up. One of my favorite foods to eat at the festival.

Simple Woman's Day Book

FOR TODAY(September 14, 2009)...

Outside my window... The sun is shinning. The sky is blue

I am thinking...If there were things I could have done differently.

I am thankful for...Being given the opportunity to return to a job I loved and people I loved working with.

From the kitchen... I smell the wonderful scent of cider burning from my candle.

I am wearing... A ripped up browns t-shirt and sweat pants.

I am creating...The feel of fall around the house. Starting to transform my house into the warm feeling of fall!

I am going... To Walmart to check out some fall lighting.

I am reading...Craft magazines.

I am hoping...To get to take Tyler to the zoo this fall.

I am hearing...Scruffy lick his paws, and the television, which always seems to be on.

Around the house...Clutter, Clutter, Clutter

One of my favorite things...Fall decorations

A few plans for the rest of the week: Sunshine Girls, Tuesday morning, Scrapbooking, Tuesday night, Tonya's on Wednesday for a craft, Thursday, meeting up with Erica, Friday; Backwoods Festival, Shopping.

Why do weekends have to fly by?
This weekend was no exception. Saturday, we drove north to spend the day celebrating the start of the football season with Tyler. Pre party was getting ready for the The Ohio State game against USC. We kicked it off at Build a Bear. Tyler picked out a cute little panda to dress up in OSU football gear.
Dinner of pizza and juice was served prior to kick-off. He loved the pepperoni o's.
A special treat of Buckeye Cookies was served during the game. Found out that Tyler is a huge fan of Buckeye candies!
Tyler in his new OSU hoodie and sweat shorts!

Tyler, getting his game face on!

Sick as a Dog!

This is my second round of the flu, since starting at the ER 2 months ago. Chills one minute, hot flashes the next. I think I'm in for a long flu season!

Cheesy Blitz

INGREDIENTS:

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent rolls
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Beat the cream cheese with 1 cup of sugar and the vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth; set aside.
Unroll the cans of crescent roll dough, and use a rolling pin to shape each sheet into 9x13 inch rectangles. Press one sheet into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture into the baking dish, then cover with the remaining piece of crescent dough, and brush with melted butter. Stir together 1/2 cup of sugar with the cinnamon in a small bowl, and sprinkle evenly over the top of the cheesecake.
Bake in the preheated oven until the crescent dough has puffed and turned golden brown, about 30 minutes. Allow to cool 10 minutes before serving.

Time Flies!

I can't believe how much time has gone by since my last post. A lot has been going on and I just haven't had the time to sit down and put any time into my blog. Hopefully, now that fall is here I'll be able to dedicate some time.
Lake season is quickly coming to an end...This is by far my favorite time to be at the campsite. A fire with the fall breeze is so inviting. I spent 2 wonderful afternoons napping on the swing looking over the water. Can't get anymore peaceful than that. Took a ride on the boat and enjoyed looking at the houses along the south side of the lake.
